NTCA Heralds Adelstein NominationNovember 17, 2004, Arlington, Va. - The National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) is delighted that President Bush has renominated Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein to his seat on the Federal Communications Commission for another term, which will expire June 30, 2008. NTCA is hopeful for a speedy confirmation process in the Senate.
"NTCA and its members are thrilled that finally the bottleneck has been broken and we will have some security knowing that someone who truly understands the needs of rural Americans serves in this distinguished seat. It was touch and go for awhile there, but we never lightened up on our pressure to the White House nor Senate leaders to renominate Commissioner Adelstein. We are pleased that our efforts have paid off and that our members’ voices were heard," said Michael E. Brunner, chief executive officer of NTCA.
NTCA is the premier association representing nearly 600 locally owned and controlled telecommunications cooperatives and commercial companies throughout rural and small-town America.
