TECO: A Hit on Broadway

TECO hosted an evening on Broadway with over 800 attendees enjoying a performance of Mamma Mia at the Winter Garden Theater.
The music of Photo: Attendees register for TECO's fun event 80's group ABBA provided the soundtrack to the musical. The attendees were treated to an exciting performance that had the crowd laughing and singing.

 

 

 
New Award Presented

NTCA presented a new award for first responders. This award is to recognize the companies and their employees who respond to telcos' needs in natural disasters and emergency situations. Trevor Bonnstetter, general manager, of West Kentucky Rural Telephone, served as master of Photo: Trevor Bonnstetterceremonies where he thanked each telco that sent support or supplies during the two natural disasters faced by West Kentucky earlier this year.

General Session Filled with Provocative Thinking, Technology and RUS Perspective

NTCA President Harry Thomas welcomed everyone and opened the general session by introducing Steve Collier of Milsoft Technologies. Steve provided a provocative look at the future of communications and opined about the future of our Photo: Steve Collierworld as a wireless world. His speech was followed by Kevin McGuire of NTCA who demonstrated some of the unique and interesting technologies in use currently.

Jonathan Adelstein, the Rural Utilities Service Administrator, spoke about the importance of broadband in rural communities and his passion for making it happen. He spoke about the importance of doing it correctly and asked for NTCA members to provide feedback and insight so that RUS gets it done right. Adelstein praised rural telcos for their dedication to their communities and noted that he looks forward to working with the rural telecom community moving forward.




 

Committee & Task Force Meetings
NTCA's Video Task Force met to discuss issues and challenges in the video arena. Chairman Keith Galitz of Canby Telecom lead the Photo: Keith Galitz at video task force meetingdiscussion and participants focused on video programming legislative initiatves, FCC proceedings on video content and discrimination issues.

Mr. Adelstein spoke with committee members about the broadband program and the process currently underway. The committee members had an opportunity to speak intimately with Mr. Adelstein and discuss the challenges and opportunities available through RUS.
