Chris Lehner of JSI Recognized with Associate Member Outstanding Achievement Award

September 28, 2011 (Arlington, Va.) – At the closing general session of the Fall Conference in Seattle, the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) presented Chris Lehner with the 2011 NTCA Associate Member Outstanding Achievement Award. Lehner is the director of communications, public relations and education at John Staurulakis, Inc. (JSI).  He has served the rural telecom industry for more than 25 years. He is active with the national and state trade associations, often contributing to association publications with articles on issues such as universal service, public relations, education and marketing. He has served on the NTCA Associate Member Advisory Council and recently serves on the Foundation for Rural Service Board of Directors and has helped FRS with its fundraising efforts for many years.

Photo of awardPrior to joining JSI, Lehner spent more than 13 years at NTCA establishing its communications division. He has written extensively on legislative, regulatory and economic development efforts impacting independent telecom providers.

"It’s a special honor to present this award to Chris since we worked together for many years when he was at NTCA," stated Shirley Bloomfield, chief executive officer of NTCA. "Chris has been dedicated to advancing the interests of the rural telecom industry over his career and remains a vocal and committed leader advocating for and assisting rural telcos."

The NTCA Associate Member Outstanding Achievement Award honors associate members who have performed extraordinary service for the benefit of the telecommunications industry. The award is presented to an individual currently or previously employed by an associate member company in recognition of effective leadership and long-term involvement in NTCA, along with outstanding accomplishments and contributions on behalf of independent telecommunications companies at the local, state and national levels.
