Industry Insights and Networking Opportunities Pack the Second Day of Fall Conference

The 2013 Fall Conference continued on Tuesday with more education sessions on topics such as customer broadband adoption, leading the way for innovative business models and opportunities in deploying mobile networks.

A series of roundtable discussions on hot topics including wireless backhaul, security services, grassroots efforts and health care took place in the afternoon. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask NTCA Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield questions about rural call completion, health care reform and ongoing advocacy efforts.

The Foundation for Rural Service held its board of directors meeting on Tuesday. The foundation honored board members Lee Logan, president of West Carolina Rural Telephone Cooperative (Due West, S.C.); Tom Conry, general manager of Farmers Mutual Cooperative Telephone Co. (Harlan, Iowa); and Robert F. West, senior vice president of CoBank, for their years of dedication and service.

Following the afternoon roundtable sessions, attendees enjoyed the evening reception wearing their "Rural Is Cool" t-shirts and bracelets they received earlier at the conference. The "Rural Is Cool" reception featured the new Fall Conference Vendor Showcase and recognized the Smart Rural Community award recipients.
