JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include all aspects of construction and maintenance of outside plant aerial/buried cable facilities. Also need strong communications skills, be an exceptional self starter, and have a positive attitude. May assist other construction workers as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Remove trees and debris.
Service machines, including compressors, generators, back hoe and trailers.
Works closely with operators to handle any changes of assignments or provide additional guidance while in the field.
Assist construction foreman.
Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site daily to eliminate potential hazards.
Install traffic control devices.
Clear and prepare highway work zones.
Loads and unloads and hauls and hoists materials.
Dig trenches.
Operate hand tools.
Remove hazardous materials.
Operate pavement breakers: jackhammers, earth tampers, concrete, mortar and plaster mixers.
Survey and measure equipment.
Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
Other assignments as directed by supervisor.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
One year telecommunication industry experience or two years related experience.
Ability to write and speak in concise, clear and polite manner.
Ability to read and comprehend oral and written instructions.
Some overnight travel may be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
