#BeCyberwise

Cyber risk affects everyone, with cyber attacks often leading to massive business disruption. Cybersecurity is a key component of any business continuity plan and a requirement of several federal funding programs. NTCA advocates for its members, provides numerous educational resources for both members and their customers and offers an information-sharing product as well.

Why it Matters

When it comes to cybersecurity, putting your head in the sand is not a solution. Small businesses are a deliberate target. 70% of cyber attacks target small businesses and 61% of all small businesses have reported at least one cyberattack during the previous year.

Small companies report that their biggest obstacles to becoming secure are: technical and financial challenges in embedding security in networks, lack of support from management, employees that are not aware of their role in security, and lack of time and/or personnel to keep pace with changing technologies.

NTCA Awareness and Advocacy

NTCA is very active in spreading awareness of cyber threats and the cybersecurity measures that must be taken to combat these threats. NTCA is also a fierce advocate for its members in the cybersecurity arena, holding leadership roles on a variety of government and industry cybersecurity councils, and serving as the only representative of small broadband providers on several of these. The Importance of Information Sharing

Information sharing is essential to the protection of critical infrastructure in the era of ever-evolving cyber attacks. Information sharing is particularly important to small businesses, where receiving intel from trusted sources can help drive more informed decisions.

NTCA offers CyberShare: The Small Broadband Provider ISAC, a product that helps small broadband providers protect their networks through cyberthreat information sharing.
