DISC Profile Training

The DISC profile analysis can be used for training, employee development, coaching and mentoring. The DISC model profiles four primary behavioral styles each with a distinct and predictable pattern of observable behavior - dominance, influence, steadiness, and compliance. Applied in a business setting, DISC can lead to better communication and a heightened positive attitude, which will build positive relationships and outcomes.

People who take the DISC Profile will learn how to:

  • Understand their individual behavior and how it affects others
  • Examine their reactions to other people's behavior
  • Maximize their personal strengths
  • Develop and sustain a positive attitude about themselves and others
  • Adapt their behavior to create positive outcomes

DISC Training Objectives:

  • Discuss the value of individual differences
  • Learn techniques to maximize your strengths and reduce conflict
  • Increase productivity through improved communication
  • Improve employee moral
  • Increase management effectiveness

No one cultivates leaders like NTCA.

Employee Satisfaction Survey

It’s easy to see why this is our most popular product. For a company to be successful in today’s competitive environment, it should take the time to listen to its employees. Who understands the telco’s strengths and weaknesses better than they?

Do your employees grasp what’s expected of them? Are they treated consistently? Do they understand the company’s direction? What would they change? In objective, face-to-face interviews, NTCA representatives ask hard questions and get honest feedback. Ultimately this process leads to a stronger company,

Personnel Policy Manual

Do your employees know where the telco stands on Internet use? On sexual harassment? In today’s litigious environment, you need the telco’s policies on every personnel issue clearly and consistently stated – from A to Z. NTCA will assist you with creating or updating a personnel policy manual that does just that. Customized for your system, the manual protects the telco by removing all uncertainties in regard to employee behavior and treatment. Policy updates are available.

Organizational Assessment

An on-site, systematic audit of your human resources practices and procedures. Not only does this structured approach reveal your compliance (or lack of) with current federal and state employment laws, it investigates critical areas in your workforce, such as whether:

  • the company has the right people in the right jobs
  • staffing is appropriate to company goals
  • employees have training commensurate with their responsibilities.

NTCA assesses every aspect of human resources, including the appropriateness of employee records and the policies in the personnel policy manual. NTCA can even help a telco establish a human resources department.

Performance Appraisal System

Employees deserve honest feedback. They need to know if they are meeting expectations and what improvements they must make. They need incentives for exceptional performance. Too often companies rely on a haphazard approach, which can breed confusion and dissension. NTCA’s performance appraisal system, customized for each telco, is designed to eliminate the guesswork. It gives managers the tools to conduct impartial evaluation meetings with individual employees – even in the most difficult situations. Managers learn about documentation, facilitating positive discussions, and compensation incentives.

Job Analysis & Descriptions

This important management tool, also customized for each telco, first analyzes the current employment positions.Have the job descriptions been properly written? Are the goals and expectations of each position clearly defined? Because NTCA understands that each telco is different, it can update or create job descriptions for the most unique of positions, taking into account the qualifications, physical demands, supervisory responsibilities and work environment.

Compensation Programs

Let NTCA guide you through the complex maze of compensation, from pricing a new job, recommending bonus and incentive programs, all the way to creating a comprehensive salary program that assigns grades and salary ranges. We can evaluate all positions, set standards, update salary ranges – taking into account the region and market – and determine which positions are exempt or non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Compensation & Benefits Survey

The NTCA Compensation & Benefits Survey is a comprehensive annual report that provides detailed information about small telcos' wages and benefits, broken down by access lines, revenues, regions, employee counts, years in position and lines of business. More than 80 job positions are surveyed each year.

Each January, a link to the online survey is emailed to member and nonmember rural telcos across the country, asking that each participate. An order form for the published report is included at the end of the online survey. Those who participate in the survey receive a discount on the published report, which is released in early June. At that time, all telco orders for the report are filled and, for confidentiality purposes, are mailed to the attention of the general manager.

If your telco did not receive a link to the 2012 NTCA Survey of Compensation and Benefits (due to go out in early January 2012), please contact NTCA's publications manager, Christian Hamaker, at chamaker@ntca.org.
