2008 PR & Marketing Interactive Workshop Information
NTCA's PR & Marketing Interactive Workshop, "Working the Web: Dynamic Design & Freshn Functionality" captivated attendees with compelling keynote presentations and knowledgable panelists who shared practical information about enhancing telcos' online presence. Industry insider Steve Collier of Milsoft Utilities Solutions discussed a number of online trends and many aspects of social media and networking, and how telcos can leverage those tools to expand their marketing reach.
Tracy Betts, founder of Balance Technology Group, delivered a keynote address called “Electronic Marketing: Getting Your Message Out,” which examined how Web sites may be used as marketing tools and looked at electronic marketing techniques such as blogs and search engine optimization.
The event also featured two panel discussions on Web design and Web functionality. The design panel included several telco representatives and one Web design professional who shared their experiences with what works and what doesn't when it comes to desiging a Web site--including fonts, colors, images and more. The panel on Web functionality featured four telco representatives discussing various types of online tools including portals, live online chat, social networking and online provisioning.
The session closed with an interactive session during which attendees had the chance to use the theories and ideas they learned by working together to design a Web site home page for a fictional company. The session produced a number of excellent sample Web pages, and the groups shared their work and explained the design they chose as well as the online tools featuerd on their their sample sites.
