Major League Baseball Coming to PS3
The Sony PlayStation 3 just added another choice for its owners. Sony and Major League Baseball Advanced Media have reached an agreement that will bring MLB.tv service to the PlayStation 3 console.
The agreement will allow PS3 owners to subscribe to the MLB.tv service through their console. MLB.tv service provides out-of-market games, home and away announcer access and interactive features including DVR functionality. Subscribers will be able to watch the games in high definition on their home television sets. Local blackout restrictions will apply and an Internet connection to the console is required.
“In addition to desktops and laptops, as well as mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets, this represents another important distribution point for fans to enjoy live baseball via the Internet,” said Kenny Gersh, senior vice president, business development, MLBAM
In addition to the HD quality video and DVR functions, subscribers may choose the MLB Scoreboard, scrollable line score and favorite team calender and schedule among the features. The PS3 will require an application download from the Media section of the Playstation Store.
The service does require a subscription. MLB.tv offers several options for fans who wish to follow a favorite team or want access to a full season schedule for all the teams.
