Agenda

Wednesday, April 25

1:30 p.m. – 2:35 p.m.

Cyber Risk Management in the Real World
The workshop kicks off with a mix of tabletop discussions and case studies to highlight current cybersecurity issues for rural service providers. Through conversations with your peers you will begin to identify gaps in your company’s knowledge and preparation.

2:35 p.m. – 3:05 p.m.

Principles of Risk Management
There is no single prescriptive checklist to comprehensively address cybersecurity. A risk-management approach is the best way to deal with such a multi-faceted and dynamic challenge. Learn about how everyone within the telco plays a role in mitigating cyber risk and see how the NIST Cybersecurity Framework is a valuable tool to provide structure and governance for your efforts.

3:05 p.m. – 3:35 p.m.

Operational Perspectives on the NIST Framework
From your initial risk-management discussions to completing a comprehensive cyber-risk self-evaluation, NTCA has resources and tips to share. Learn best practices from NTCA members who have successfully used the NIST Framework to improve their security postures.

3:35 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.

REFRESHMENT BREAK

3:50 p.m. – 4:20 p.m.

Fundamentals of Response and Recovery
When faced with a cyber incident, do you know how your company will respond? This session is an in-depth discussion of what it takes to develop, implement, test and revise a cyber incident response plan. From the roles and responsibilities of team members to storage and usage of the plan itself, learn what it takes to move from abstract discussion to an executable document.

4:20 p.m. – 4:50 p.m.

Effective Monitoring and Detection
Despite our best efforts, cyber breaches are inevitable; however, impact can be limited by effective monitoring and early detection that captures essential response information. Learn techniques used for early detection and how to confidently determine how an attack occurred, what systems or data were compromised, and if the threat has been removed.
