The Broadband Technician I performs basic installations, disconnects and service changes for residential and business customers.  This role performs basic troubleshooting from the tap to the customer’s electronic devices (TV, DVD, Modem etc.).

 The Broadband Technician II performs intermediate installations, disconnects and service changes for residential customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home).  This role performs moderate troubleshooting from the tap to the customer’s electronic devices (TV, DVD, Modem etc.). This role may also perform underground and/or aerial construction involved with system plant, along with its’ repair and maintenance supporting various customer-focused activities.

The Broadband Technician III performs complex installations, disconnects and service changes for residential and business customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and support PON/Metro E. These services include, but are not limited to, video service, HSD Services, and home/business phone service. This role performs advanced troubleshooting from the tap to the customer’s electronic devices (TV, DVD, Modem etc.).

The Broadband Technician IV performs extremely complex installations, disconnects and service changes for residential and business customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and support PON/Metro E .  These services include, but are not limited to, video service, HSD Services, and home/business phone service.  This role performs advanced troubleshooting from the tap to the customer’s electronic devices (TV, DVD, Modem etc.).  This position will be responsible for installing, splicing, repairing and maintaining aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber optic and copper cable. This position will be knowledgeable of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of telecommunications.

Perform basic installation of all necessary cable wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware from the tap to the customer’s equipment for reception of cable and other company services that are offered for single and multi-family.
This may include burial of underground Broadband facilities utilizing different methods of placement, including excavation or hand digging for the placement of drop facilities to customer premise, streets and right of way and placement of conduit to customer premise, in streets and the right of ways as well as pulling of hardline into conduits after placement of conduits. Position may also be responsible for placement of conduit structure in new subdivision joint trench construction projects.
Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NEC and NESC).
Perform connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects (requested and non-pays), upgrades, downgrades, relocates, install additional outlets, and install or remove equipment (i.e. converters).
Assure proper signal levels and picture quality on all television sets, and clean the premises of all debris and material after installation is complete.
Monitor and record system, drop, and in-house leakage; properly record all required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etc.
Promote cable, internet, and other company services; educate customer on proper use of the service, including how to add additional services, channel lineups, proper equipment usage, and other services that are available.
Clean, maintain, stock, and secure assigned vehicle and equipment.

Broadband Tech I:
6+ months’ customer service experience OR- current or prior military service with honorable discharge.
 Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

BBT II (in addition to above):
1+ years of cable installation and repair or professionally related experience.

BBT III (in addition to the above):
2+ years' cable installation & repair or professionally related experience.

BBT IV (in addition to the above):
3+ years' cable installation & repair or professionally related experience.
Other Qualifications:

Upon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements, which may include a background check administered by the customer.
Must be reliable and responsible, with a strong work ethic dedicated to a team.
Practical knowledge/experience with computer applications.
Familiarity with company products and services.
Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Requires being available for on-call/standby responsibilities and may require occasional travel.
Demonstrated customer service and sales skills, as well as effective communications skills (verbal and written) for interaction with internal and external customers.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Physical requirements may vary based on company needs: Ability to dig, lift and climb.
Successful completion of the SCTE Broadband Premise Install test within the first 3 months of employment.
Ability to pass Department of Transportation physical and driver testing.
