Job Description

Performs skilled technical duties relating to the installation and maintenance of telecommunications central office switching systems, outside plant facilities, voice, and data equipment and other associated telecommunications and computer equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform service orders from the Central Office switch, DLC, or other Remote Terminals to the customer premises.
• Install Central Office, DLC, or other Remote Terminal equipment to work order specifications.
• Installs and maintains premise wiring, cable terminals, and protection and subscriber carrier devices.
• Performs required documentation and data entry to close services orders and work orders.
• Installs and maintains network interface devices.
• Installs and maintains aerial and buried cable trunking and distribution systems and performs associated cable splicing.
• Installs and maintains, fiber optic and copper transmission systems.
• Perform maintenance required for trouble tickets and service orders.
• Educates customers on the use of customer equipment, products, and features.
• Recommends to customers the products or features needed to enhance their telephone, data, and video service.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined by the approved company safety plan.
• Supports Company through personal use of products and services and proactively promoting it within the community.
• Able to perform duties of Broadband, Cable Maintenance, and OSP technicians.
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Adhere to corporate policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 4 years of experience in IP Telephony or Networking Installation and Repair. A+ and Net+ certification is preferred.
• A low voltage technician license is preferred, must be able to attain license within 2 years of employment.
• Ability to hold a valid Wyoming or Idaho Driver's License. Holding a valid DOT physical card is required.
• Requires familiarity with the NEC and RUS central office and outside plant practices and standards.
• Ability to operate various construction equipment including, backhoe, cable plow, trencher, etc.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to navigate various software packages.
• Ability to perform the basic duties of the Cable Maintenance Technician.
• Ability to provide afterhours support on a rotational on-call basis and to work off-hours as needed.

• Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The ideal person for this job would be a team player, personable, professional, upbeat, and energetic, takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy.
• Proven analytical skills, work requires continual attention to detail. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
• Resourceful, roll up the sleeves attitude. The successful candidate must have the initiative to resolve problems and seek answers independently and enthusiastically persist until goals are achieved.
