Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for deployment/integration, testing, operating, maintaining, and repairing headend equipment. Activates and tests all equipment and the quality of signals throughout the cable network. Maintains required documentation pertaining to headend deployment and operations.

Core Responsibilities:
Perform installation, wiring, turn up and testing of various types of headend equipment.
Performs advanced headend maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure minimal system outages.
Assists in the fault resolution of RF, IP, and Digital Video networks.
Maintains an inventory of required parts for headend and OTN projects.
Works within manufacturer’s rated weight capacity for all equipment, including but not limited to ladders and aerial lifts.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends and variable schedules.
Responsible for the cutting over of services during scheduled maintenance windows including but not limited to new fiber nodes, node split activations, CMTS’s. Works closely with outside plant technicians when required.
Network planning, system design, and network documentation.

Job Specification:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Technical Certificate/s.
Requires 5 or more years related experience or Equivalent

Additional Requirements:
Ability to use RF, fiber optic and IP test equipment including basic RF meter, RF spectrum analyzer, OTDR, optical power meter and MPEG analyzer.
Data networking skills to include DOCSIS, TCP/IP, DHCP and knowledge of LANs, WANs and transport networks.
Proficient using computer and common applications including Microsoft Office products, Telnet/SSH for command line access.
Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.

Networking: 5 years (Preferred)
RF Meter/Spectrum Analyzer: 5 years (Preferred)
