Arlington, Va. (December 10, 2015)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association and North Central Telephone Cooperative (NCTC) today issued the following joint statement from NTCA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shirley Bloomfield and NCTC President and CEO Nancy White regarding FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel’s remarks during a visit to NCTC’s headquarters in Lafayette, Tenn.:

“NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association applauds FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel for her continuing dedication to rural America. On the heels of the unanimous vote of the Senate Commerce Committee approving Commissioner Rosenworcel’s nomination for a new term at the FCC, I was honored to travel to Tennessee with her to see first-hand the economic and societal benefits that advanced broadband services like those delivered by North Central Telephone Cooperative (NCTC) provide to rural communities. NTCA is eager for Commissioner Rosenworcel’s reconfirmation by the full Senate, and we look forward to working with her in the future to achieve our shared goal of advancing universal service to all Americans regardless of where they live or work,” said Bloomfield.

“NCTC was so pleased to have FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel recognize the achievements small telecommunications providers are making to rural America. With our fiber network and the availability of such fast Internet speeds, our rural area now has greater opportunities in economic development, telemedicine, distance learning, small business growth and so many other sectors. The advanced network we have available today will benefit the people of this region for decades to come,” said White.
