Arlington, Va., (December 2, 2016)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today issued the following statement regarding the House Steering Committee’s selection of Rep. Greg Walden (R-Oregon) to chair the House Committee on Energy and Commerce:

“We congratulate Representative Walden on his selection as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and appreciate his leadership on rural communications issues, including rural call quality. We look forward to working with him, Reps. Shimkus and Barton and the full committee to ensure all Americans have sustained access to reliable and affordable advanced communications services. In an era where a robust broadband connection is necessary to participate and compete in our digital economy, the work of this committee is more important than ever to enhance the reach of broadband networks to rural America. I would also like to thank Rep. Upton for his tenure as chairman of the committee and for working with us to find broadband policy solutions that benefit all Americans.”
