Arlington, Va., (July 2, 2019)—NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association issued the following statement regarding ongoing consideration by the Federal Communications Commission of the repurposing of the C-Band spectrum.

“As parties submit proposals in anticipation of FCC action soon on C-Band reallocation, NTCA urges consideration of alternatives to the C-Band Alliance's misguided proposal for this mid-band spectrum. The Commission has a responsibility to decide spectrum policy according to law and to ensure that the public interest is served as it makes licensing decisions. The FCC should not abdicate that responsibility to private parties in its rush to make spectrum available. C-Band spectrum is valuable mid-band spectrum that will play an important role in the transition to 5G and the provision of wireless broadband services in rural America. Thoughtful consideration of transition mechanisms, opportunities to advance rural broadband, and reasonable licensing rules in an FCC-led process is essential.”
