Arlington, Va., (September 6, 2019) – NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield regarding the introduction of the “Broadband Deployment Accuracy and Technological Availability (DATA) Act” and the “Mapping Accuracy Promotes Services (MAPS) Act” to the House of Representatives.

"Improving broadband availability maps is essential for rural, community-based broadband providers to continue the mission of closing the digital divide. The Broadband DATA Act, introduced today by Representatives Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa) and Bob Latta (R-Ohio) and cosponsored by Representatives Donald McEachin (D-Va.) and Billy Long (R-Mo.), makes meaningful reforms to our federal mapping systems.  NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association supports this legislation, thanks the representatives for their continued leadership, and looks forward to working with them as this bill moves forward. Similarly, NTCA also appreciates the efforts of Representatives McEachin and Long on their introduction of the MAPS Act."
