Arlington, Va. (February 27, 2020)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield regarding the passage of the “Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019.”

“NTCA appreciates the leadership of Sens. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Mark Warner (D-Va.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), and Ed Markey (D-Mass.), as well as the efforts of Reps. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), Greg Walden (R-Ore.), Doris Matsui (D-Calif.), and Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.), in moving forward this bill to address communications supply chain security in a measured and thoughtful manner.

“NTCA supports effective steps to manage risks in our national communications networks and is pleased that the bill rightly recognizes the need to ensure providers using equipment subsequently found to present such risks have the resources to remove and replace prohibited equipment.”
