NTCA Reply Comments Highlight the Costs a Forced Transition to ATSC 3.0 Will Impose on Video Subscribers

(June 6) In reply comments filed with the FCC, NTCA noted that the National Association of Broadcasters’ request to initiate a mandatory transition to ATSC 3.0 broadcast TV standard should be rejected. No market demand for ATSC 3.0 has been demonstrated, NTCA argued, and a transition would inflict unnecessary and undesired costs on consumers and would be beyond the commission’s legal authority.
