Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber Optic Fiber Splicer to join our team. As a Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and associated equipment. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our fiber optic network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Splice and terminate fiber optic cables using fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques.
- Test and troubleshoot fiber optic networks using specialized equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
- Diagnose and resolve fiber optic cable faults, signal degradation, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
- Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables, splice enclosures, and related equipment.
- Perform fiber optic cable audits and documentation of network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with operations teams to plan and execute fiber optic network expansion projects.
- Adhere to safety standards and procedures while working with fiber optic equipment and in various work environments.
- Keep accurate records of splicing and testing activities, equipment inventory, and maintenance schedules.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to fiber optic splicing and network infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Provide technical support and assistance to customers, including explaining installation procedures and troubleshooting network problems.
- Overtime and on-call as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in fiber optics preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Fiber Splicer in telecommunications or related industry.
- Proficiency in fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic network architectures, components, and testing equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoor settings and confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to different job sites as needed.
