NTCA Website Privacy Policy

This is the NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association's (NTCA) Internet Privacy Statement. This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for www.ntca.org and our related association websites.

NTCA values individual privacy and we want to give our website visitors the opportunity to know what information we collect about them and how they can limit the use of personally-identifiable information beyond the purposes for which they first provided it.

NTCA reserves the right to disclose information where required by law or to comply with valid legal process (such as a search warrant, subpoena or court order), to protect NTCA's rights or property, including without limitation in the event of a transfer of control of NTCA or substantially all of its assets, or during emergencies when safety is at risk.

NTCA is the sole owner of the information collected on our websites. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways other than those outlined in this statement. The NTCA collects information from our users at several different points on our websites. Personal information provided by users will be used by NTCA to improve the site, maintain members' membership records and provide a more personalized experience for the user. Information which identifies a specific individual will not be disclosed to others without the user's permission unless necessary to provide services which the user has requested or by law.

Data We Collect and How We Use It

We collect your email address if you communicate with us by email, as well as other information that you might supply voluntarily, such as survey information.

NTCA collects information from its members (including names, addresses, business phone numbers, business fax numbers, and email addresses) for inclusion in the membership database and online membership directory, accessible only after a successful member-authenticated login on the website.  NTCA also collects necessary information to maintain membership records.

Further, NTCA may occasionally provide, sell, or rent limited data to third parties, including companies that offer products and services for sale to NTCA's members.  This limited data includes names, job titles, companies/organizations, email addresses, phone numbers and business addresses but does not include fax numbers. You may opt out of having your information shared with third parties by logging into Member Central, clicking "My Information" and then "Third Party Communication Settings."

If you purchase a product or service via our websites, including registering for events, we may ask for your credit card number or other account number you wish to be charged. We do not give out your credit card or other account information to third parties. Credit card information is not stored on the NTCA websites or at any other location at any time.  NTCA's ecommerce activities are managed with secure server authentication.

Children's Privacy

NTCA does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If NTCA obtains knowledge that it has personally identifiable information about a child under 13 in retrievable form in its files, NTCA will delete that information from our existing files. Exceptions are parents registering a child for a conference event. The information collected about the child includes the child's name and parent's contact information.

Cookies & Computer-Related Information

NTCA uses "cookies" on our websites to enhance the user's experience and provide security-controlled login for member access. A cookie is used in website system administration to keep track of movement of an individual user from one screen to another. This information may be used by our staff to detect and resolve website problems and to assist with customer support. Our web server automatically collects information from your computer and navigation patterns when you visit our site, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the computer's operating system, the type of browser you use, and the specific webpages visited during your connection. We may also track data such as the total number of visits to our website and the number of visitors to each page of our website. We may use this information, in aggregate form, for system maintenance and to better understand and improve visitors use of our website.  NTCA may also share statistical or demographic information in aggregate form with third parties for marketing or research purposes. This aggregate data will not contain any information that personally identifies website visitors.

Visitor Choice/Opt-out Options

By providing email address information to NTCA, the user agrees to receive periodic email communications from NTCA related to programs, services and events. Our users are given the opportunity to "opt-out" of having their personal information used by third parties for purposes not directly related to our site. For example, our informational email messages have an "opt-out" mechanism so users can change their mind and be removed from receiving future informational or marketing messages. Users who no longer wish to receive NTCA newsletters or email communications may opt-out of receiving these communications by following the "unsubscribe" instructions in the email message.

NTCA is not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites.
