J. Frederick "Fred" Johnson

Fred Johnson currently serves as the CEO of the Farmers Telecommunications Cooperative and its competitive affiliate. He has held this position since 2002. FTC is located in Rainsville, Alabama and is the state's largest member-owned provider of telecommunications services. Fred holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University and a MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He has been a CPA since 1984. Fred's  career spans some 34 years in the fields of public accounting, rural electric distribution and telecommunications.

He currently represents the Southeastern United States as a Member of the Board of Directors for both NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association, Arlington, VA, and the Rural Telephone Finance Cooperative in Dulles, VA. He serves as a gubernatorial appointee to the Alabama 9-1-1 Board and is a past chairman of that board. Mr. Johnson also currently serves as a public member of the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education.

A native of Mentone, Alabama, Fred is married to the former Susan Millwood of Pickens, South Carolina and currently resides in Rainsville, Alabama. He and Susan have three children, Phillip, Paige, and Peyton, a daughter-in-law, Page and a son-in-law, Marcus. Fred and Susan attend the Broadway Baptist Church and are actively involved in the ministries of that local congregation.
