Help Us Share the Impact of Rural Broadband Providers

One of the most effective ways we can demonstrate the importance of community-based broadband providers is by sharing real data from the field. When we bring member perspectives together, it gives us a powerful story to share with lawmakers, regulators and others shaping the future of broadband policy.

Last year, NTCA’s annual Broadband/Internet Availability Survey highlighted how members continue to make remarkable strides in delivering on the promise of robust and reliable high-speed connectivity in the most rural parts of the United States. However, we recognize there is more to be done - identifying the communities that are still waiting to receive high-speed connectivity remains important. As a result, this year’s survey includes questions about mapping availability and location challenges.

We need your help to continue showing the speeds you are delivering and the number of customers you serve. Last year’s survey showed that nearly 89% of respondents’ customers can on average receive downstream speeds greater than or equal to 100 Mbps, with over 76% of customers on average having access to Gigabit downstream speeds. Approximately 85% of those same customers on average realized upload speeds of 100 Mbps or higher and 68% of customers on average had access to Gigabit upstream capability. I use those statistics regularly to highlight just how focused our member providers are for their consumers and communities.

I know how much time and energy you devote to delivering reliable, affordable service to your neighbors. That’s why I don’t take these requests lightly. But the data you provide through this survey has been a cornerstone of our advocacy, proving time and again that NTCA members are national leaders in building and maintaining high-quality networks.

As new broadband programs roll out at both the federal and state levels, it’s more important than ever that your work and your results are recognized. This survey allows us to capture your progress, demonstrate your leadership and make the case for continued support to help you reach even further.

The 2025 Broadband/Internet Availability Survey is now open, with responses due by October 3. Please take the time to share your input—it’s one of the best ways we can keep telling your story.

Thank you, as always, for everything you do to connect your communities.
