NTCA Asks the FCC to Seek More Focused Comment on the Paths Available to Rural Carrier’s Use of Call Authentication Technology

(Oct 19) In meetings with the 4 Commissioners and well as Wireline Bureau staff, NTCA stated that many of its members continue to face barriers to the exchange of voice traffic with other providers in IP format, a barrier that in prevents them from effectively using STIR/SHAKEN call authentication.  NTCA asked the FCC to seek comment on ways to remove this barrier, through either the mandate of non-IP call authentication standards or rules to facilitate increased exchange of voice traffic in IP.
