NTCA Proposes a Method by Which Additional ACP Support Could Make Broadband More Affordable for Low-Income Rural Consumers

(Nov 28) In a meeting with FCC staff, NTCA proposed a process to fulfill the Congressional mandate for an enhanced Affordable Connectivity Program subsidy for low-income consumers in “high-cost” areas. NTCA proposed that by definition the areas where NTCA members receive universal service support fit the criteria for this program, and noted that the FCC must establish a separate process if such support goes to other carriers.
