(Nov 3) In a meeting with staff from the FCC’s Office of the Acting Chairwoman, NTCA emphasized the importance of swift FCC action to delay the phase out of Lifeline support for voice only services and addressed concerns with the impact of budget controls on carrier’s ability to achieve their performance testing obligations. NTCA also noted the impact of (“USF”) budget controls on small rural carriers’ ability to meet deployment and performance obligations as previously defined. As a forward measure NTCA has offered to work with the commission to address these issues before they reach emergency status.
