NTCA Asks the FCC to Address Interconnection Issues that Limit Rural Consumers’ Ability to Be Notified When their Calls are Blocked

(Aug 9) In the FCC’s call blocking proceeding, NTCA stated that the agency should immediately turn its attention back to its “non-IP” call-authentication proceeding, where there is a full record upon which the agency could act to perpetuate IP traffic exchange agreements.  The lack of these agreements means that TDM in other operators’ networks limits rural consumers’ ability to address instances of their calls being mistakenly blocked, and thus the FCC should address this before authorizing additional call blocking.
