NTCA Encourages FCC to Extend Truth in Billing Requirements to Interconnected VoIP Providers

On February 12, 2020, NTCA filed comments recommending the FCC apply the current truth-in-billing rules applicable to fixed voice providers to interconnected VoIP providers, stating that consumers need to be able to compare equally all options for voice telephone service.  NTCA further noted that while consumers may subscribe to both a fixed and wireless service, they are not likely to subscribe to a traditional fixed service and an interconnected VoIP service.  To further ensure customers are able to compare equally multiple services, NTCA recommended that all voice providers be required to handle government-mandated fees identically on consumer bills.
