Arlington, Va. (October 10, 2014)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield following the release of the FCC’s notice of proposed rulemaking regarding competitive bidding procedures:
“NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association applauds the FCC’s decision to take a hard look at ways to improve its competitive bidding rules because the wireless marketplace has evolved since these rules were put in place. The commission must ensure that congressional intent is realized and that designated entities, including rural telephone companies, have meaningful opportunities to obtain spectrum at auction and participate in the provision of spectrum-based services. We look forward to engaging with the commission as it works to update these rules.”
