Arlington, Va., (September 17, 2014)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield regarding the Senate Commerce, Science & Transportation Committee’s passage of the Satellite Television Access and Viewer Rights Act:

“NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association thanks the committee for its work in moving the bill forward. While much of what was discussed was ultimately not included in the legislation—including provisions that would have really leveled the playing field for video providers and their access to content—we are heartened by the fact that lawmakers gave serious consideration to long-standing issues surrounding the retransmission consent process. NTCA looks forward to continuing to work with the next Congress to determine how to best protect consumers from escalating video costs.”
