Arlington, Va. (October 2, 2014) – NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield regarding the short-form application results from the upcoming auction of AWS-3 spectrum:

“NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association is pleased that nearly 20 of its members submitted applications to participate in the upcoming AWS-3 spectrum auction. This represents approximately one-quarter of all applications filed, demonstrating yet again the commitment of small telcos to providing state-of-the-art communications services for the benefit of rural America. This strong showing by NTCA members also highlights the very real benefits of the FCC’s decision to establish smaller licenses in this auction and maximize opportunities for participation by those most interested in finding innovative solutions to serve rural markets. We are eager to see the results of the auction, and also for meaningful opportunities to participate in future auctions as the FCC delivers on its goal of freeing up spectrum for wireless services.”
