Arlington, Va. (February 21, 2014) – NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association is pleased to announce its partnership with the 10,000 Friends of Rural America campaign, an initiative to garner support for rural America by building an inclusive social media network of rural residents and organizations and their family, friends and co-workers from all across the country.

NTCA joins more than 25 other partner organizations with shared goals of increasing the visibility and understanding of the unique challenges facing rural America, developing new ways for rural Americans to make their voices heard and their concerns understood, and creating a vehicle for participation in national policy discussions.

“NTCA is dedicated to improving the quality of life in rural communities by advocating for affordable, advanced communications infrastructure and services,” said NTCA Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield. “We are excited to partner with the thousands of other rural advocates that support the 10,000 Friends of Rural America campaign to expand our advocacy efforts and focus on improving rural education, health care, commerce and public safety.”

The effort is coordinated by Stand Up for Rural America, a project of The Center for Rural Strategies (CRS). 10,000 Friends of Rural America currently has about 2,200 friends and Facebook likes, with support from every state and Puerto Rico. Anyone who supports rural America can join the campaign.
