Arlington, Va., (May 27, 2014) – In the most recent episode of NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association’s new video series, “Broadband Beat With Shirley Bloomfield,ˮ Sen. Mark Begich (D–Alaska) describes the vital role broadband services play in rural communities, telling Bloomfield that broadband is crucial to the education, health care and economic prosperity of Alaskans.
“If you do not have high-speed connectivity in your rural community, they’re going to be left out,” said Begich.
Begich also discussed how he entered public service and why it’s important to give back. He explained that his leadership role in the Senate has given him the opportunity to work with advocacy groups to help members of Congress make more informed decisions.
The interview also focuses on the senator’s relationship with the FCC and the importance of grassroots advocacy efforts.
