Arlington, Va. (April 3, 2014) – NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield in support of the Rural Call Completion Resolution introduced by Reps. Bob Latta (R–Ohio) and Peter Welch (D–Vt.):
“I applaud Representatives Latta and Welch for their roles in seeking to bring the rural call completion epidemic to an end once and for all. We are hopeful that this resolution, in conjunction with comparable measures introduced in the Senate, can help put a stop to rural consumers’ ongoing inability to receive phone calls. With both chambers of Congress and the FCC now actively engaged in finding a solution to this problem, we are hopeful we will be able to bring least cost routers out of the shadows, better ensure the reliability of our nation’s networks, and promote the safety and well-being of rural Americans.”
