Arlington, Va. (July 16, 2015)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield in support of the Rural Spectrum Accessibility Act of 2015 introduced by Reps. Adam D. Kinzinger (R–Ill.) and Dave W. Loebsack (D–Iowa):
“Small, community-based telecommunications providers are committed to delivering the latest broadband technology to rural markets. For many operators, this includes providing wireless services in some of the most sparsely populated and hard-to-reach pockets of our country. Securing spectrum is vital to the success of these service offerings. I applaud Congressmen Kinzinger and Loebsack for introducing this important piece of legislation, which seeks to ensure unused wireless spectrum can be put to more effective use serving more sparsely populated rural areas. We are hopeful that Congress and the FCC will continue to pursue innovative ways to ensure that rural carriers and their customers have access to high-quality spectrum-based services.”
