Arlington, Va. (May 26, 2015)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield in support of the Improving Rural Call Quality and Reliability Act of 2015 introduced by Reps. David E. Young (R–Iowa) and Peter F. Welch (D–Vt.):
“NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association is pleased that Representatives Young and Welch took this important step toward trying to end the rural call completion epidemic by introducing this important piece of legislation. A year after similar legislation was first introduced and years after these problems were first identified, we are heartened to see members of Congress seeking to end the frustration in rural America due to the inability of consumers to receive phone calls. We thank these representatives for their dedication and leadership; we look forward to working with Congress and the FCC to bring least-cost routers out of the shadows, helping to ensure the reliability of our nation’s networks and promote the safety and well-being of rural Americans.”
