Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (February 22, 2016)—Doug Boone, chief executive officer (CEO) of Premier Communications (Sioux Center, Iowa), was elected president of NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association at the Rural Telecom Industry Meeting & EXPO in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Boone is currently a director for Iowa Network Services, past director for the Iowa Telecommunications Association and has served on a number of federal and state industry committees. He was instrumental in the formation of FiberNet Communications L.C., FiberComm L.C., and Northwest Communications Network, L.C., and currently represents Premier Communications on these boards. Boone is also currently serving on the Sioux Center Economic Development Board and his local church board.

“It is an honor to serve as President of NTCA as the first commercial company member. Each year we take steps to solidify our association—steps that were put in place together with unification and that are making NTCA stronger each year. As a board of directors we have found that even though we are each different and our companies are quite diverse, the key issues that affect a commercial company or a cooperative company are very similar,” said Boone. “I am looking forward to working with the NTCA board and staff to advance the interests of our communities and customers in rural America.”

The NTCA board also elected William P. Hegmann, general manager of Southwest Arkansas Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (Texarkana, Ark.), as vice president and John Klatt, president/CEO of Lakeland Communications Group, LLC (Milltown, Wis.), as secretary/treasurer. Don Richards of Richards, Elder & Green, LLP (Lubbock, Texas) was re-elected general counsel.
