Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (February 22, 2015)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association announced today that the new name of the association’s political action committee (PAC) is now NTCA Rural Broadband PAC. The PAC was formerly called TECO, the Telecommunications Education Committee Organization. NTCA Rural Broadband PAC unveiled the new name and logo at a gathering of more than 2,000 rural telecom leaders in Lake Buena Vista today.

In 2015, the PAC board unanimously agreed to modify the PAC’s name as part of a strategic plan to more readily convey who is behind the PAC and what its interests are.

“We operate in a highly competitive advocacy arena. Virtually everyone engages in grassroots activity, third party and media outreach, direct lobbying and political action. So it’s easy to see how crucial it is that we stand out,” said Sid Shank, NTCA Rural Broadband PAC board chair.  “With the implementation of our new name, I believe policymakers are going to more fully appreciate what and who our rebranded PAC is all about.”

“Considering the nature of today’s extremely dynamic advocacy realm, it has never been more important for NTCA’s PAC to be easily and widely recognized,” said NTCA Board President Doug Boone.  “Clearly the PAC board’s initiative to rebrand will ensure this is the case for years to come.”

Established in 1969, the PAC accepts voluntary contributions from authorized individuals within NTCA member companies and then distributes these funds to worthy federal candidates. NTCA Rural Broadband PAC has contributed thousands of dollars to Congressional candidates who have demonstrated a concern for the unique issues associated with telecommunications in rural America.

More information about the PAC is available online.
