Washington, D.C. (May 11, 2017)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield will join the panel discussion, “Broadband Infrastructure Funding: What Should The Plans Be?” hosted by the Advisory Committee to the Congressional Internet Caucus on Friday at noon-1 p.m. ET. The event will take place in the Rayburn House Office Building and will be streamed live online.

Bloomfield previously testified before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation that the broadband infrastructure deployed by small, hometown internet service providers enables applications that rural and urban communities can leverage for education, commerce, health care and government services.

Bloomfield’s Senate testimony built upon ideas articulated in prior correspondence, including a NTCA letter to the National Governors Association providing specific recommendations regarding how to stimulate sustainable broadband infrastructure deployment and a subsequent joint association letter encouraging Congressional leaders to include broadband in any new, comprehensive federal infrastructure investment program and outlining several foundational principles for such initiatives.

More information about the event is available on the committee’s website.
