Arlington, Va. (January 31, 2017)— NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today commended the co-chairs of the Senate Broadband Caucus and 43 of their fellow senators as well as the co-chairs of the House Rural Broadband Caucus and 65 of their colleagues for signing letters urging President Donald Trump to include broadband within any forthcoming infrastructure initiative.
The co-chairs of the Senate Broadband Caucus that NTCA commended are: Sens. Shelley Moore Capito (R–W.Va.), Angus King (I–Maine), Amy Klobuchar (D–Minn.), Heidi Heitkamp (D–N.D.) and John Boozman (R–Ark.). The co-chairs of the House Rural Broadband Caucus that NTCA commended are: Reps. Peter Welch (D–Vt.), Adam Kinzinger (R–Ill.), Mark Pocan (D–Wis.), Kevin Cramer (R–N.D.), Dave Loebsack (D–Iowa) and Bob Latta (R–Ohio).
“Reliable and affordable broadband is essential to maintaining a rich quality of life and fostering job creation and economic development in both urban and rural America,” said NTCA Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield. “NTCA and its members are thankful for these senators and representatives who recognize the importance of sustainable broadband for residents and businesses.

But their job is not done, as the process for expanding these networks to more rural Americans and upgrading these networks to keep pace with demand remains a challenge. Therefore, we look forward to working with congressional leaders and the President to ensure broadband occupies a place of prominence in any infrastructure initiatives.”
