Arlington, Va., (January 4, 2017)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield about the reintroduction of the MOBILE NOW Act.
“NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association thanks Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John Thune (R–S.D) and Ranking Member Bill Nelson (D–Fla.) for reintroducing the MOBILE NOW Act that would address a variety of challenges faced by carriers seeking to deploy wireless and wireline infrastructure alike in rural America. Particularly as our nation looks to promote advanced communications, it will become more critical than ever to ensure the availability of sufficient spectrum and facilitate the ability to install robust wireline and wireless facilities capable of handling the vastly increased consumer demands that such services enable. Therefore, NTCA applauds the bill’s efforts to streamline the deployment of communications facilities and expand the definition of the types of infrastructure covered by the streamlined process. NTCA looks forward to working with Chairman Thune and Ranking Member Nelson as this important bill moves forward.”
