NTCA Announces Smart Rural Community Collaboration Challenge Grant Recipients

San Diego, Calif. (February 6, 2017)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today announced that two community-based rural broadband providers will be receiving the Smart Rural Community (SRC) Collaboration Challenge Grants for the development of broadband-enabled solutions for their communities.

The SRC initiative highlights efforts that make rural areas vibrant places in which to live and do business. The Collaboration Challenge awards grants to promote collaborative efforts in economic development, education, energy, health care and public safety.

The winners of the SRC Collaboration Challenge grants are:

Pineland Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (Metter, Ga.) which will receive $4,882.90 to support a public wi-fi network in a central park area of the community.

SkyLine Membership Corp. (West Jefferson, N.C.) which will receive $5,000 to support the installation of high definition, night vision cameras that enable remote monitoring of a memory-care unit in an assisted living facility in order to ensure patient safety and prevent residents from leaving the premises.
