Washington, D.C. (August 8, 2017)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield has been appointed by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to serve on the Streamlining Federal Siting Working Group of the Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee (BDAC).
The BDAC’s mission is to provide advice and recommendations to the commission on how to accelerate the deployment of high-speed internet access.
“I welcome the opportunity to serve on this important working group and to collaborate with longtime friend and Working Group Chairman Jonathan Adelstein on ways to accelerate broadband deployment while reducing federal barriers that have added difficulties on top of the high cost of deploying broadband to rural communities,” said Bloomfield. “NTCA has been gathering thoughts on this subject for some time and I look forward to working with the working group to provide Chairman Pai recommendations on this important topic.”
Bloomfield is joined on the working group by several other rural representatives and NTCA members including: Carri Bennet, Rural Wireless Association (Washington, D.C.); Brian Boisvert, Wilson Communications (Wilson, Kan.); Ron McCue, Silver Star Communications (Freedom, Wyo.); and Larry Thompson, Vantage Point Solutions (Mitchell, S.D.).
