Arlington, Va., (November 7, 2020)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield regarding the presidential election results:

“The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the need to connect Americans with the best possible broadband and to ensure services remain affordable over time. NTCA members have been on the forefront of ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in today’s digital world by building robust networks capable of delivering the internet’s fastest speeds and helping rural Americans adopt new technologies.

“We still have much work to do, however, to reach more Americans and to upgrade existing networks for those already served today. We congratulate President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris on having been declared the winners of this election, and we look forward to working with the administration and Congress to promote sustainable networks that will deliver high-quality services for years to come. Every American—no matter where he or she lives—deserves the opportunity to have robust, reliable broadband.”
