Arlington, Va., (March 30, 2021)—NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association today announced it has partnered with SecurityScorecard, the global leader in security ratings, to provide participants in its CyberShare: The Small Broadband Provider Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) complimentary access to the SecurityScorecard Cybersecurity Risk Ratings platform. Additionally, NTCA will offer all its small broadband provider members additional cybersecurity education through a new Cyber Series.

CyberShare: The Small Broadband Provider ISAC promotes the resiliency and continuity of operation of small network operators across the United States by collecting and disseminating threat information, indicators and mitigation strategies from a variety of public and private sources and facilitating communications among participants. CyberShare members can use the complimentary SecurityScorecard enterprise platform license to monitor the security risk of their own organization and up to five companies they rely on to run their respective businesses.

“We are excited to support our CyberShare participants in securing their networks with the SecurityScorecard solution,” said NTCA General Counsel and Vice President of Policy Jill Canfield. “As operators of broadband networks, participants wrestle with complex and evolving supply chains and need to continuously monitor and understand the cyber posture of their own environments as well as suppliers they rely on to run their businesses. The SecurityScorecard solution will support small broadband providers as they work to modernize and enhance their supply chain capabilities as well their ability to monitor and secure their own companies.”

“Small companies don’t often enjoy the same resources and support as their larger counterparts,” said Aleksandr Yampolskiy, CEO and co-founder of SecurityScorecard. “SecurityScorecard is proud to build on our commitment of making the world a safer place by providing critical services to help secure broadband networks at a time when society is counting on them more than ever.”

To further help NTCA members improve their cybersecurity postures, NTCA created the Cybersecurity Series, a comprehensive guide consisting of four components designed to help telco executives, board officers and operational staff develop a risk-management approach to cybersecurity. The components are designed to work together to help improve cybersecurity practices and will complement a series of free webinars for NTCA members held throughout 2021.

Part 1: The Fundamentals of Cybersecurity is an introductory overview of the cybersecurity realm and the partnership with government in protecting critical resources. It offers tailored resources to help networks examine cyber risk-management approaches and assessments; addresses cyber information sharing forums; and clarifies roles and responsibilities.

Part 2: Protecting Your Network and Data addresses the most common vulnerabilities in the workplace and networks and offers practical advice on addressing them. Participants will receive a printable poster to share with employees to help them strengthen their cybersecurity skillsets.

Part 3: Sector-Specific Guide to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework helps operational staff evaluate a company’s cybersecurity program at a more granular and sophisticated level. It includes NTCA’s updated NIST Framework Evaluation Tool to help small network service providers digest and apply Version 1.1 of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, while simultaneously providing flexibility for individual companies to suit their unique needs, characteristics and risks.

Part 4: Cyber Incident Response Plan is an essential component of a company’s overall cyber risk management strategy. This webcast and sample response plan is a resource for senior leaders and cyber risk-management teams to help either create or revise a robust cyber incident response plan.
