FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association issued the following statement from CEO Shirley Bloomfield after the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation advanced the nomination of Anna Gomez and renominations of Geoffrey Starks and Brendan Carr as FCC Commissioners. She also congratulated Xochitl Torres Small on her confirmation as deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture:

“NTCA congratulates Brendan Carr, Geoffrey Starks, and Anna Gomez on advancing one step closer to confirmation today. As we work to bridge the digital divide and advance and sustain broadband access for all Americans, we look forward to working with Ms. Gomez and continuing to work with Commissioners Starks and Carr. We urge the full Senate to approve their nominations so that the FCC can build upon its work ensuring all Americans receive robust and affordable broadband service.”

“NTCA also congratulates Xochitl Torres Small on her confirmation as deputy secretary for USDA. In her previous role as undersecretary for rural development, she has been a strong advocate for connecting rural communities through ReConnect and the agency’s other broadband and telecommunications initiatives. We look forward to working with her to strengthen these already successful programs and ensure those in rural and hard-to-serve areas receive the same level of service as urban Americans.”
